I am proud to report I have passed the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers Knowledge Assessed examination. I am now authorized to use the initials CPDT-KA as part of my signature and professional documents.

The phrase “dog enrichment” is the au currant term for adding brain games and socialization practices to your pet’s everyday life. In fact, there are 5 different types of enrichment to consider and incorporate into a dog’s life: 1) Social 2) Cognitive 3) Environmental 4) Sensory 5) Food. None of them have to be difficult or complicated. You may be surprised at what your pup finds fun, and how easy it is to add all kinds of enrichment into your everyday routine!

It’s been five years since I started formally training dogs and their human companions. I started working full-time with dogs in various capacities more than ten years ago. Dog training is one of those professions where “the more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.” Why is that true?

Dog Training during a global pandemic is not only possible, it’s proven! Here is a great big round up of all the dog training graduates that have persevered through the masks, and distancing, through the scary times before lock down and the surreal times after that. Congratulations and my most sincere “thank you” to all the pet parents that have allowed me to coach them, and their wonderful pups in these most strange of days.

Diligent pet parents made sure to complete their courses before the holiday frolics. Congratulations to the paw-rents and pups, they’ll be heading into 2020 as the very best teams they can be!

Stella is our current dog in foster care. She is a little Min Pin Rat Terrier cross that started her life down in North Carolina. Being a summer-born gal and less than a year old, she has never seen snow before. The light dusting that fell today was enough for a lovely first introduction, and she took it on like the curious young explorer she truly is!

All these dog training graduates followed their people students right into school and came out winners!

It never gets old because no matter the season of the year, dog training brings happiness to dogs and their families and I am privileged to share a small part of that good will. Congratulations once again 🙂
