We take a limited number of dogs, and when we reach that limit, we begin to turn away booking requests.
Our business is seasonal. That means that at certain times of the year, there are fewer dogs that require boarding. But at other times, such as Christmas, New Year, March Break, and all long weekends, we often reach our limit well in advance. We therefore rely on our busy times to carry our business through the times that are not as busy, so that we can continue to provide the boarding experience on which our clients have come to rely.
We are a home-based business, and the pets that come to us are integrated into the pack that are here at any one time. If they have special needs, we take that into consideration at the time of booking with regards to which other guests are also here during that period.
Since we turn away booking requests once we reach our limit, or if a pet would be uncomfortable with other guests, if you cancel last minute we have lost business that we otherwise would have had, and as we said above, we rely on that business.
Also, even when we are not fully booked, we schedule our other work, namely dog training, dependent upon the number of and nature of dogs expected, as well as how many are coming and going each day. So even when we are not fully booked cancellations affect our daily business.
All this just to let you know that we have a cancellation policy,
and that we stick to it.
Our cancellation policy is as follows:
The deposit to hold your booking is non-refundable. We will not hold your booking until your deposit is recieved.
If you cancel a reservation more than 7 days in advance of your dog’s intended arrival, there is no charge, unless the booking includes a statutory holiday, long weekend, or March Break (see below).
If you cancel a reservation less than 7 days in advance, we charge a cancellation fee of 50% of what your invoice would have been, with a minimum charge of $45.
If you cancel a reservation less than 3 days in advance, we charge a cancellation fee of 80% of what your invoice would have been, with a minimum charge of $45.
If you cancel a reservation on the day of intended arrival, we charge a cancellation fee of 90% of what your invoice would have been, with a minimum charge of $45.
If you don’t cancel at all and your dog doesn’t come in, we charge the full amount of your dog’s intended stay.
Finally, we charge for all nights of a booking, even if you drop off on a later date, or pick up on an earlier date.
We hope you understand the challenges of managing a small business with customized services, and look forward to spending time with your furry family member!
